Christmas tree lighting ceremony held in Paphos

The Christmas tree, standing at 12 meters tall, and the festive decorations were officially lit in Kennedy Square, Paphos, in the presence of a large crowd who enjoyed a vibrant artistic event marking the holiday season.

The celebration began with a festive parade featuring the Percussion Group of the Paphos Music School, led by Tasos Charalambidis, and the Saxophone Ensemble, directed by Christos Zenios. The parade was accompanied by dance performances from the Jake Athanasiades – Danceroom, Center of Ballet & Dance by Maria & Sofi Chambiaouridou, and Koulla Landa School of Ballet. The program also included a musical and dance show, highlighted by a concert from The Louis Night Show Band, while Santa Claus distributed gifts to the children.

Paphos Mayor Phedonas Phedonos, who pressed the button to light the tree, delivered a brief speech wishing everyone a joyful holiday season filled with health, love, and family happiness. He also shared a message of love, solidarity, and support for those in need, emphasizing the importance of community spirit during the festive period.

According to an announcement from the Paphos Municipality, “true to the spirit of the season, a series of festive events has been planned throughout the Christmas period, inviting everyone to experience the magic of Christmas in a city glowing with light and joy.”
