China on Wednesday urged “calm” and “restraint” following Russian President Vladimir Putin’s signing of a decree lowering the threshold for the use of nuclear weapons.
“Under the current circumstances, all parties should remain calm and exercise restraint, working through dialogue and consultations to ease tensions and reduce strategic risks,” said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian when asked about the decree.
