Beloved Greek actress Kaiti Konstantinou dies at 61

The beloved actress, Kaiti Konstantinou, passed away at the age of 61 on Monday, March 10. According to reports, she had been hospitalised since Sunday, March 9, in a private clinic but could not overcome her health challenges. In recent times, the actress had been battling cancer.

Konstantinou became widely known for her iconic portrayal of “Soso Papadima” in the television series “Eglimata” (“Crimes”). Her most recent TV appearance was in the Alpha series “I Katara tis Tzelas Delafraga,” where she played Alexis Vrontaki in a parody of “Sasmos,” engaging in a vendetta with Chrysa Ropa.

About the comedic actress

Born on December 18, 1963, in Rododafni, Achaia, Konstantinou simultaneously completed studies in Philosophy and at the Drama School of the Art Theatre, graduating in 1986 alongside friends Maria Kavogianni and Yro Mane. She also worked as a philologist. Her first role was in the theatrical production “Esoterikes Fones” (“Internal Voices”) at the Art Theatre. She became widely recognised for her performance as Soso Papadima in the series “Eglimata.” Throughout her career, she participated in numerous theatrical performances, as well as in various films and television series.

A loss that deeply affected her

Approximately a year ago, the legendary “Soso” spoke on ERT’s “Studio 4,” where she referred to a loss that changed her life: that of her father. “We lost my dad when I was 8 years old. We grew up with my mother, who was an overprotective woman and dedicated her life to her children, my sister and me. She was strong enough to manage everything,” the actress had stated in a past interview. Regarding her personal life—which she kept as a closely guarded secret—she mentioned:

“I don’t think my personal life concerns anyone. How open or closed a person I might be. Who does it concern and why should it? I read biographies of great and important people,” she concluded.
