On Sunday, Barack Obama used Donald Trump’s comments questioning Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Greek heritage to deliver a message to Black and Latino communities. Speaking at a Kamala Harris rally in Milwaukee, Obama cautioned against voting for someone “with a long history of demeaning and disregarding your communities.” He also referenced Trump’s scepticism about Antetokounmpo’s Greek identity, among other remarks Trump has made about ethnic minorities.
Antetokounmpo was in a game against the Cleveland Cavaliers when the comments were made. Afterward, he was asked for his reaction but appeared to shrug off the former President’s remarks.
“I’m not aware of the comments. At the end of the day, I don’t follow politics that much. And the little that I follow, I try to keep my political views to myself and my family. I’m here to, you know, win basketball games and not answer to non-basketball questions. But, I wish both candidates best of luck”
