Aradippou factory fire: Reports point to freezer malfunction

Speaking on the programme Protoselido, Fire Service spokesperson Andreas Kettis said firefighters remain at the site due to the presence of materials inside the factory that are difficult to extinguish.

He described the incident as a particularly challenging case, noting that the fire developed within seconds.

Possible cause under investigation

According to preliminary indications, there are testimonies being assessed suggesting that a malfunction in a freezer unit may have contributed to the outbreak of the fire.

However, authorities stressed that this remains under investigation and will be confirmed following on-site examinations.

Extensive damage reported

Officials described the blaze as having caused complete destruction of the facility, while noting that significant efforts were made to prevent the fire from spreading to neighbouring factories.

Firefighters injured during response

Three firefighters received first aid at the scene due to the demanding conditions of the operation.

Investigations into the exact cause of the fire are ongoing.
