A kitchen fire in Aglantzia caused extensive damage to a first-floor apartment on Thursday morning, according to the Cyprus Fire Service. The blaze broke out at 11:16am and was brought under control within 25 minutes. Fortunately, no one was injured.
Firefighters from the Acropolis Station responded with two engines and a telescopic ladder truck. The fire broke out in the kitchen of an apartment in a two-storey building and is believed to have started due to a forgotten cooking pot left on a lit hob.
The Cyprus Fire Service confirmed that, while no lives were at risk, the kitchen and its contents were severely damaged by fire and heat. Additionally, smoke affected the walls throughout the apartment, causing further harm.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of unattended cooking and the need for fire safety awareness at home.
