Low-pressure system approaching from Greece – impact on Cyprus

The weather today will be generally fair, with temperatures reaching around 18°C inland, 21°C in the southeast, east, and west coasts, 20°C on the remaining coasts, and 9°C in the higher mountainous areas.

On Saturday, the weather will initially be mostly fair with locally increased clouds in the west, which may bring isolated showers. Gradually, it will become mostly cloudy with local rain and isolated thunderstorms.

A weak low-pressure system is currently affecting the area, while a low-pressure system centred in northern Greece is expected to gradually influence the region from Saturday.

Today
The weather will be mostly fair, although increased high clouds will be observed initially. Winds will be mainly north to northeast, light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort, and locally moderate at 4 Beaufort. The sea will be slight to slightly rough in the east. Temperatures will rise to around 18°C inland, 21°C in the southeast, east, and west coasts, 20°C on the other coasts, and 9°C in the higher mountainous areas.

Tonight
The weather will remain mostly fair, although locally increased clouds in western areas may bring isolated showers later, especially along the western coasts. Winds will blow mainly southwest to northwest and locally up to northeast, light at 3 Beaufort. The sea will become calm to slightly rough. Temperatures will drop to around 6°C inland, 9°C on the southern and eastern coasts, 10°C on the western and northern coasts, and 2°C in the higher mountainous areas, where frost is expected locally.

Saturday
The weather will initially be mostly fair with locally increased clouds in the west, possibly bringing isolated showers. Gradually, it will become mostly cloudy with local rain and isolated thunderstorms, starting in the west and spreading to other areas. Hail may occur during thunderstorms.

Sunday
Isolated showers or thunderstorms are expected in the morning, but the weather will improve significantly later, becoming mostly fair with occasional increased clouds.

Monday
The weather will be mostly cloudy, with local rain and isolated thunderstorms expected later. Sleet or snow may fall on the highest peaks of Troodos.
