Police launched a search in Larnaca shortly before midday on Monday after a prisoner escaped from a police transport van at Larnaca District Court.
According to initial reports, the Larnaca prisoner escape involves an 18-year-old foreign national who was being held on remand.
The detainee had been transported to the courthouse for a continuation of his hearing when he escaped from the police vehicle.
Officers from the Larnaca Police Division are at the scene and searching the surrounding area to locate the teenager.
Police are also investigating the circumstances under which he managed to escape.
