Cyprus Airways launches multilingual Website, making travel more accessible

Date:

Cyprus Airways has launched a multilingual version of its website, making its digital travel experience more accessible to customers across its growing international network.

The Cyprus Airways website is now available in French, Italian, German, Spanish and Russian, enabling more passengers to explore destinations, access travel information and book flights in their preferred language. The localization project was delivered in partnership with MotionPoint, a MarketFully company specialising in website localization technology.

The development represents another step in Cyprus Airways’ ongoing investment in its digital customer experience and supports the airline’s strategy of strengthening connectivity between Cyprus and key international markets.

With Cyprus Airways continuing to develop its network across Europe and the wider region, the ability to communicate with customers in their own language is becoming increasingly important. The addition of French, Italian and German is particularly relevant to some of the airline’s key European markets, while Spanish and Russian further broaden the accessibility of the Cyprus Airways digital experience.

The multilingual platform also supports Cyprus as a destination by making it easier for international travellers to discover the airline’s network and plan their journey to the island directly through Cyprus Airways.

Thanos Pascalis, CEO of Cyprus Airways, said:

“As Cyprus Airways continues to grow internationally, we want the experience of travelling with us to be simple and welcoming from the very first interaction. For many customers, that journey begins on our website. Making our digital platform available in more languages allows us to communicate more effectively with our passengers, while supporting our growth in key international markets and strengthening Cyprus’ connectivity with Europe and beyond.”

Cyprus Airways selected MotionPoint to provide a solution that could be integrated into the existing website while maintaining a consistent brand and customer experience across languages. MotionPoint’s proxy-based technology enabled the multilingual website to be implemented without requiring significant changes to the airline’s existing digital infrastructure, with the project progressing from selection to launch within 30 days.

The launch forms part of Cyprus Airways’ broader focus on enhancing the passenger journey through digital innovation, helping customers discover destinations, plan their travel and interact with the airline across different markets.

Created by Andrew Lloyd Webber and starring Michael Crawford as the mysterious Phantom and Sarah Brightman as Christine Daaé, the musical would go on to captivate audiences around the world with its haunting melodies, elaborate staging and dramatic love story. From Gothic novel to West End sensation Based on Gaston Leroux's 1910 novel, The Phantom of the Opera tells the story of a disfigured musical genius who lives beneath the Paris Opera House and develops an obsessive love for a young soprano. Andrew Lloyd Webber transformed the Gothic tale into a lavish stage production, combining romance, mystery and tragedy with a powerful orchestral score. The musical introduced songs that would become theatre classics, including "The Music of the Night", "All I Ask of You", "Think of Me" and the dramatic title number. Directed by Harold Prince, with musical staging and choreography by Gillian Lynne, the original London production featured elaborate costumes, atmospheric sets and a spectacular falling chandelier that became one of the show's most recognisable moments. Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman's defining roles Michael Crawford's performance as the Phantom became one of the defining roles of his career, earning him widespread acclaim for his portrayal of the troubled character. Sarah Brightman, who was married to Lloyd Webber at the time, originated the role of Christine Daaé, bringing her distinctive soprano voice to the production. Their performances helped establish the musical's international reputation and set the standard for generations of actors who would later take on the roles. A record-breaking theatrical phenomenon The Phantom of the Opera premiere began an extraordinary run in London's West End. The original London production reached 13,629 performances before being interrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic in March 2020. The musical returned to the West End in 2021 and has continued its run. Its success also crossed the Atlantic, with the Broadway production opening in New York in January 1988. The show went on to become Broadway's longest-running musical, closing in April 2023 after 13,981 performances.
