The Department of Meteorology has issued a yellow weather warning for rain and thunderstorms, effective from 12:00 to 18:00 on Wednesday, September 30.
Isolated strong thunderstorms are expected to affect areas in the north, the mountains and the interior. Hail is possible during thunderstorms, while winds may shift direction and strengthen.
Rainfall intensity could locally exceed 35 millimetres per hour.
Yellow warning in effect from noon
Low pressure is beginning to affect the region.
Initially, the weather will be partly cloudy, while isolated rain is expected in coastal areas. An isolated thunderstorm cannot be ruled out in the southwest.
The weather will gradually become mainly cloudy, with local rain and isolated thunderstorms expected mainly after midday, particularly in the mountains, interior and northern areas. Weather phenomena could also affect eastern areas.
Hail is possible during thunderstorms.
Winds will be mainly southwesterly to northwesterly, light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort, gradually becoming moderate to strong along the coast at 4 to 5 Beaufort.
The sea will generally be slightly rough.
Temperatures will reach around 30°C inland, 28°C on the coast and 18°C in the higher mountains.
More rain and storms overnight
Tonight, the weather will remain mainly cloudy, with isolated rain expected along the coast. An isolated thunderstorm is also possible, mainly in the west and north.
Winds will be mainly southwesterly to northwesterly, light and occasionally moderate along the coast at 3 to 4 Beaufort.
The sea will initially be slightly rough but will gradually become temporarily calm to slightly rough.
Temperatures will fall to around 19°C inland and on the coast, and around 8°C in the higher mountains.
Unsettled weather expected through Saturday
The unsettled conditions are expected to continue on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
The weather will remain mainly cloudy, with isolated rain or thunderstorms possible along the coast during the morning. The phenomena will gradually become more widespread and intensify, particularly after midday, with local rain and isolated thunderstorms expected.
Hail is possible during thunderstorms.
On Friday, the weather phenomena could be intense or prolonged.
Temperatures will gradually fall until Friday and remain largely unchanged on Saturday, staying below seasonal averages.
