A police chase in Limassol ended with the arrest of a 34-year-old driver early Wednesday morning after he allegedly failed to stop for police, collided with a patrol car and struck an officer.
According to Sigma correspondent Evangelos Evangelou in Limassol, the incident took place at around 5:30 am in the area of the New Port.
Police officers signalled the 34-year-old driver to stop. The man, who was wanted under outstanding arrest warrants, allegedly ignored the signal and attempted to flee.
During the attempt, his vehicle collided with a police patrol car and struck an officer who was trying to stop him.
Warning shots fired during pursuit
A police chase followed, with police officers firing warning shots as they pursued the vehicle.
The driver was eventually stopped and arrested.
Police investigations into the incident are continuing.
