Erato’s remains officially identified through DNA testing

The body found in Paphos state forest on 3 September has been identified through DNA testing as 76-year-old Erato Athanasiou from Tsakistra, who had been reported missing.

The identification was confirmed following scientific examinations completed on 9 September. The results established that the remains found at the “Kallinikos” location belonged to Athanasiou.

Funeral to be held on Friday

The funeral of Erato Athanasiou will take place on Friday, 11 September 2026, at 2 pm at the Church of Agios Nikolaos in Tsakistra.

Her burial will follow at the Tsakistra cemetery.

The family has also announced that contributions may be made to support the Church of Agios Nikolaos in Tsakistra.
