A complaint over possible pollution at Petra tou Romiou has raised concern and renewed attention on the protection and proper management of the area.
According to Sigma correspondent Marios Ignatiou, photographs posted on social media appear to show a line of sewage in the sea near Petra tou Romiou, prompting the relevant authorities to take action.
A complaint has been filed over the incident, while the competent services are expected to investigate the source and nature of the sewage reportedly recorded in the area.
Further concerns in Paphos
The incident adds to a series of complaints recorded recently in Paphos district concerning pollution and the protection of the natural environment.
As Marios Ignatiou reported, other incidents have also been recorded during the current season, raising concerns over the condition of the coastline.
Large quantities of rubbish and other materials have been washed ashore, including in areas of the Akamas, further highlighting concerns over environmental protection and waste management.
