Two Turkish-flagged commercial ships collided in the Sea of Marmara, off Istanbul, on Wednesday, according to the Istanbul Governor’s Office.
Coastguard vessels and helicopters were dispatched to the area to carry out search and rescue operations.
The Turkish ships were involved in the collision offshore, with authorities continuing efforts to establish contact with the crews.
Ten crew members unreachable
According to the Governor’s Office, there was no visible damage to one of the vessels.
However, authorities have been unable to contact 10 crew members aboard the other ship involved in the collision.
Search and rescue operations remain underway as authorities work to establish the condition and whereabouts of the crew members.
