Compensation details for damage caused by extreme weather

Authorities have recorded 183 homes affected following the severe weather that hit Cyprus on August 29, 2026, the Ministry of Interior said on Monday.

District Administration teams across Cyprus have begun recording damage to properties and infrastructure, prioritising cases where the damage is more extensive and serious.

The 183 affected homes are located across 20 communities and three municipalities, mainly in Nicosia District. Damage has also been reported to public infrastructure.

Residents asked to submit details

To help speed up the recording and assessment of storm damage, affected residents are asked to send the following information to their relevant District Administration by Monday, September 7, 2026:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Contact telephone number

The Ministry of Interior said it is responsible for requests relating to homes, commercial properties and vehicles.

Financial assistance to be decided

The criteria and amount of financial assistance that may be provided to those affected will be determined by a decision of the Council of Ministers.

Authorities are continuing to assess the extent of the storm damage across the island.
