School bags from €1.89 to €210: The price gap in school supplies

Date:

School supplies prices in Cyprus show significant differences this year, although there have been no major changes compared with 2025, according to a survey by the Cyprus Consumers Association.

The survey examined prices at 10 businesses across Cyprus, with the association urging parents and students to shop around and compare prices. In some cases, online prices were found to be lower than those at physical stores.

School bags range from €1.89 to €209.95

The price range is particularly wide for school bags, which cost between €1.89 and €209.95.

Pencil cases range from €0.48 to €45.55, while pencils, pens and markers are priced between €0.20 and €18.99. Notebooks range from €0.32 to €12.99.

For school clothing, shirts and tops range from €3.99 to €48, trousers from €12 to €27 and skirts from €11.50 to €25.

Consumer Association advice

The Cyprus Consumers Association recommends that parents prepare a list of essential items in advance and compare both prices and quality before making purchases.

Parents are also advised to check whether products are suitable for their child’s age. Particular attention should be paid to school supplies that look or smell like food.

When choosing a school bag, parents should consider the child’s physical strength and weight.

The association stressed that “school supplies are learning tools, not a display of status”.
