Police have launched an investigation into possible criminal offences involving sick leave granted to prison guards by doctors.
The case was referred to police following information initially submitted by the Audit Office to the Legal Service.
According to information obtained, the Legal Service instructed police to investigate whether criminal offences may have been committed in connection with the issuing and use of sick leave certificates for prison guards.
Investigation at an early stage
The case is being investigated by the Police Headquarters Criminal Investigation Department.
The investigation remains at an early stage, with authorities examining the circumstances surrounding the prison guard sick leave certificates and their use.
