Avakas Gorge: Missing 16-year-old found after search operation with dogs

The search for a 16-year-old boy of Russian origin, who had been reported missing in the Avakas Gorge in Paphos, ended successfully.

According to Fire Service spokesperson Andreas Kettis, at around 10:40 p.m., the Police requested the assistance of the Fire Service in locating the teenager.

The 16-year-old was found by a Fire Service team. He had not sustained any injuries and was in good health.

Four members of the Paphos Fire Service took part in the operation, along with a Special Disaster Response Unit (EMAK) team with specially trained search dogs. Specifically, one vehicle carrying three dogs and three handlers participated in the search.

Two Police vehicles, two officers and the duty officer also assisted in the operation, along with a 12-member Civil Defence team and a drone equipped with a thermal camera.
