28-year-old arrested in Paphos over burglary offences

A man in Paphos has been arrested to assist police investigations into alleged attempted burglary, possession of burglary tools at night and other offences.

The 28-year-old was arrested during a coordinated operation carried out by members of the Paphos Police Division in the early hours of Thursday, 6 August 2026, as part of efforts to prevent burglaries and thefts.

Suspect found entering residential yards

During the operation, police officers placed a specific area under surveillance and identified a person moving suspiciously and entering homeowners’ yards.

When officers approached, the 28-year-old allegedly attempted to flee but was stopped and arrested for the offence of illegal entry.

A search carried out on him found burglary tools in his possession.

Tools, cash and drugs found in vehicle

Police later searched the suspect’s vehicle, where they found and seized additional burglary tools, a sum of money and a quantity of drugs.

Based on evidence obtained by investigators, the suspect is believed to be connected to a residential burglary and theft committed on 18 November 2025 in the Paphos district.

He is also being investigated in relation to an attempted burglary reported on 21 May 2026, also in the Paphos district.

Five-day detention order issued

The 28-year-old appeared before the Paphos District Court on Thursday, which issued a five-day detention order.

Investigations are continuing by the Peyia Police Station.
