Police have arrested a second person to assist with investigations into an alleged arson attempt in Larnaca involving a forest in the district.
During the investigation, evidence emerged against a 28-year-old woman. Police obtained an arrest warrant, under which she was arrested yesterday and taken into custody.
Earlier the same day, police also arrested a 26-year-old man in connection with the arson attempt. He remains in custody.
Fire extinguished before spreading
The attempted arson took place on the afternoon of 2 August 2026. Members of the public intervened promptly and managed to extinguish the fire before it spread or caused further damage.
The swift response prevented the blaze from expanding into the surrounding forest area.
Suspects to appear in court
The two suspects are expected to appear before the Larnaca District Court today, where police will seek detention orders to facilitate further investigations.
