Cyprus Police seized approximately 2.08 kilograms of cocaine in two separate drug operations carried out overnight in Larnaca and Limassol.
In the first case, shortly before 11 p.m., a police officer on patrol in the Larnaca district spotted a vehicle being driven suspiciously and signalled the driver to stop. Instead, the driver sped away, prompting a police pursuit while additional units were called to the scene.
Members of the Mobile Immediate Action Unit (MMAD) joined the chase. The suspect continued driving recklessly before losing control of the vehicle, which left the road and came to a stop in a roadside ditch.
Police found two 34-year-old men inside the vehicle. A subsequent search uncovered a package containing approximately 1,570 grams of cocaine.
Both suspects were arrested and appeared before the Larnaca District Court, which ordered their detention for eight days.
In the second case, members of the Limassol Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN), acting on intelligence related to drug trafficking, stopped a vehicle at around 10 p.m. carrying two 30-year-old men.
Officers discovered a package containing approximately 510 grams of cocaine inside the vehicle.
The two suspects were arrested and later appeared before the Limassol District Court, which ordered their detention for six days.
Investigations in both cases are continuing.
