Erdogan welcomes Trump in Ankara ahead of NATO summit

Date:

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan welcomed US President Donald Trump to Ankara for the start of the two-day NATO summit.

Erdogan personally greeted Trump upon his arrival at Esenboga Airport ahead of an official welcoming ceremony at the Presidential Complex.

The two leaders are scheduled to hold bilateral talks and delegation-level meetings covering regional and international developments before addressing a joint news conference.

Defence and Ukraine high on agenda

The NATO summit brings together heads of state and government from the alliance’s 32 member countries, along with leaders from partner nations.

Discussions are expected to focus on implementing defence spending commitments agreed at last year’s summit in The Hague, maintaining military support for Ukraine and expanding defence industrial production.
