Eyewitness from Limassol: “He told me ‘leave, she’s my wife’, then shot her”

A witness account has shed light on the final moments of a tragic early-morning incident outside a school in Limassol, where a man allegedly shot a woman before taking his own life.

The eyewitness said the incident unfolded shortly after 06:30 am outside the Agios Spyridonas school area in Limassol, where two individuals had reportedly arranged to meet.

According to the witness, he heard shouting and saw two people arguing inside a vehicle before realising the situation was escalating.

Attempt to intervene

The witness stated that he attempted to intervene when he saw a man holding a woman by the neck inside the car.

“I told him to let her go, and he said ‘leave, she is my wife’,” the witness recounted.

He added that the woman appeared to be silently asking for help, gesturing with her hand during the incident.

Threats made with a weapon

The witness further described how the situation escalated when the man allegedly drew a firearm and pointed it at him, ordering him to leave.

“I told him to leave her, and he told me he would shoot me,” the witness said.

He added that shortly afterwards the man shot the woman before turning the weapon on himself.

Investigation continues

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident in Limassol, which took place outside a school in the early morning hours.

Further official details are expected as police examine witness statements and forensic evidence.
