The Cyprus Institute has presented a new online platform, CyCEM – Insights, designed to improve access to information on Cyprus’ competitive electricity market.
The electricity market platform aims to collect, organise and present publicly available data in a unified and user-friendly environment, supporting better understanding of electricity market operations.
Covers all segments of the electricity market
According to the announcement, the platform fills an important gap by bringing together data from all key segments of the electricity market, including the forward market, day-ahead market, balancing markets, the Integrated Scheduling Process and the real-time balancing market.
The system also allows users to explore electricity prices, trading volumes, generation mix, renewable energy participation and balancing-related indicators.
The electricity market platform supports visual analysis across different time scales, including hourly, daily and monthly views, while also enabling users to export data for further analysis.
Focus on transparency and analysis
Speaking at the launch, Cyprus Institute Professor Theodoros Zachariadis said the platform brings together all publicly available official data from Cyprus’ competitive electricity market and fills a significant gap.
He added that the electricity market platform serves as a practical information hub that enhances transparency and supports evidence-based energy analysis.
According to him, it was developed by experts with deep knowledge of energy markets, aiming to support stakeholders and encourage informed public discussion on Cyprus’ evolving electricity sector.
Free access for the public
The CyCEM – Insights platform is available free of charge at cycem-insights.cyi.ac.cy, offering open access to structured electricity market data for researchers, policymakers and the public.
