The Fête de la Musique Limassol 2026 will return to Limassol on June 20 and 21, bringing two days of free live music, cultural performances and outdoor festivities to Castle Square in the city’s historic centre.
Organised by Alliance Française Limassol in collaboration with the Limassol Municipality, the festival celebrates World Music Day, an international event that began in France in 1982 and is now held in dozens of countries worldwide.
Alliance Française Limassol has been organising World Music Day celebrations in Limassol since 1987, helping establish the institution as a key cultural event in the city’s calendar.
Two days of music in the heart of Limassol
This year’s festival will once again showcase a diverse programme featuring different musical genres, artists and performances aimed at bringing together audiences of all ages.
The official opening ceremony will take place on Saturday, June 20 at 7pm, with Limassol Mayor Yiannis Armeftis and Alliance Française President Niki Papadopoulou Papa inaugurating the event.
Festivities will begin earlier in the evening with a musical parade by the Batukinio percussion group, featuring 50 musicians performing through the streets surrounding the city centre before arriving at Castle Square.
Saturday programme
Performances on the main stage include:
- Avant Tout Duo performing French classical songs with vocals and piano
- Echo of the Mandolins ensemble
- The Eirinaios Koulouras Quartet performing jazz standards
- Fuzzy Colors with a blend of funk, soul and groove music
Sunday programme
Events on Sunday will begin with a performance by the Limassol Municipal Philharmonic in the courtyard of Limassol Castle.
The evening programme at Castle Square will feature:
- Aura Voices presenting Mediterranean melodies with Greek and French influences
- The Dimitris Mesimeris Band performing original Greek music
- Bazook with folk, rock and ska-inspired arrangements
- A traditional rebetiko music celebration
- An open-air street party featuring Kingofeye and Francophone reggae music
Free admission for all
The event is supported by the Department of Contemporary Culture of Cyprus’ Deputy Ministry of Culture.
Local radio station Kanal 6 will also broadcast live from Castle Square between 7pm and 9pm on Saturday, June 20.
Admission to all events is free.
