Trump announces new attacks on Iran

US President Donald Trump has announced fresh military action against Iran, saying American forces will strike the country “very hard” on Thursday night.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump claimed that much of Iran’s military capability had already been destroyed and warned that further attacks were imminent.

“The United States will hit Iran (whose Navy, Air Force, radar systems, air defences and virtually every other form of defence, along with most of its offensive capability, have been WIPED OUT!) VERY HARD TONIGHT,” Trump wrote.

Kharg Island singled out as future target

Trump also said the United States would eventually seek control of Kharg Island and other Iranian energy facilities.

Kharg Island is Iran’s main oil export terminal and plays a critical role in the country’s energy sector.

“At some point in the not-too-distant future, we will take Kharg Island and other oil infrastructure locations and assume full control of their oil and gas markets, just as we did with Venezuela, something that is working out extremely well for both Venezuela and the United States of America,” Trump wrote.

Remarks likely to raise tensions further

The comments come amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran, following days of military exchanges between the two countries.

Trump’s latest remarks are likely to intensify concerns over a wider regional conflict, particularly given the strategic importance of Iranian oil infrastructure and shipping routes in the Gulf.

The US president concluded his message by thanking readers for their attention to the matter.
