The ruby of Kambos: Cherry festival returns

Date:

The Kambos community is preparing to host one of Cyprus’ most popular seasonal events as the cherry festival returns under the title “The Ruby of Kambos”.

The event will take place on 6 and 7 June 2026, bringing two days of cultural celebrations, gastronomy and entertainment to the mountain village.

Strong cultural identity and growing popularity

Kambos has become widely associated with major cultural festivals in Cyprus, from the spring blossom celebrations at the Sakura Park featuring Japanese cherry trees to the summer festival dedicated to local cherry production.

The cherry festival has grown into a landmark event, attracting visitors from across the island and highlighting the region’s agricultural and cultural heritage.

Programme of activities for all ages

The festival is organised by the Kambos Community Council in collaboration with local bodies and is held under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides.

Organisers say the two-day event will feature a wide range of activities, including traditional food, cherry-based delicacies, music performances and entertainment for both children and adults.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to enjoy local flavours and experience the cultural character of the village.

A celebration of local produce

At the centre of the festival is the cherry, often described as the “ruby of summer”, which plays a key role in the region’s agricultural identity.

The event aims to promote local production while offering an immersive cultural experience in a village known for its natural beauty and traditions.

Invitation to the public

Organisers are inviting the public to attend and enjoy a unique weekend of experiences, combining food, culture and entertainment in a festive atmosphere.
