Famagusta district: Two arrests in 24 hours over rape cases

The Famagusta CID (TAE) is investigating two separate rape cases, following complaints that led to two arrests by police on Wednesday.

Authorities confirmed that both incidents are being treated independently as part of ongoing rape investigations in Famagusta.

First complaint in Famagusta area

In the first case, a woman reported an alleged rape in the Famagusta area on 18 May.

Following an investigation, police arrested a suspect on Wednesday in connection with the complaint.

Second complaint by tourist

In a second case, a 20-year-old tourist filed a complaint on 19 May alleging rape.

After securing testimony and evidence, police proceeded with the arrest of a 23-year-old suspect.

Ongoing police investigations

The Famagusta CID continues its inquiries into both cases, with authorities collecting evidence and taking statements as part of the ongoing rape investigations.
