Date:

Cyprus’ Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Environment, Maria Panayiotou, will travel to Warsaw on Sunday to participate in the first coordination meeting of the Trio Presidency of the EU Council of Agriculture and Fisheries. The Trio comprises Poland, Denmark, and Cyprus, which will successively hold the Council’s Presidency.

According to the Ministry, the meeting is scheduled for Monday, December 2, at Poland’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Attending will be Poland’s Minister of Agriculture, Czesław Siekierski, and Denmark’s Minister for Food, Agriculture, and Fisheries, Jacob Jensen, along with delegations from the three nations.

Discussions will center on the Trio’s shared priorities for the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP), aiming to strengthen collaboration and address mutual challenges effectively.

Key objectives include promoting sustainable, competitive, and resilient agricultural, fisheries, and aquaculture sectors, ensuring food security and fair incomes for farmers and improving farmers’ and fishers’ positions in the food supply chain.

Minister Panayiotou, accompanied by the Director-General of the Agriculture and Rural Development Department and other Ministry officials, will present Cyprus’ perspectives and contribute to shaping the Trio’s strategy for achieving the EU’s agricultural and fisheries goals.
