Greece will maintain F-16 fighter jets in Cyprus on a permanent rotational basis, with aircraft and pilots regularly cycling through the island as part of its air defence cooperation, according to reports by Greek public broadcaster ERT.
The Greek Ministry of National Defence has reportedly decided that the F-16 presence will continue without interruption.
Air defence cooperation strengthened
The deployment forms part of broader regional security coordination, with Greece reinforcing its military presence in the Eastern Mediterranean.
ERT reported that the arrangement ensures continuous operational readiness while allowing personnel rotations between units.
Naval deployments in Cypriot waters
Greece was among the first countries to respond following the outbreak of conflict in the Middle East, dispatching the frigates Kimon and Psara to Cypriot waters.
The frigate Elli reportedly remains on standby in the region.
ERT also cited sources stating that internal repositioning of anti-aircraft systems is taking place within Greek territory for operational reasons.
A pair of Mirage fighter jets from Tanagra is reportedly being relocated to Karpathos, where Patriot missile systems had previously been stationed, to support rapid-response duties in the Aegean.
The reported deployments come amid heightened regional tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean and broader Middle East, with several countries adjusting defence postures in response to evolving security conditions.
