Ceasefire violations in Gaza leave five dead

Airstrikes reported despite truce

Israeli airstrikes and gunfire killed five people in the Gaza Strip on Sunday, according to the Civil Defence and local hospitals, highlighting ongoing Gaza ceasefire violations despite an official truce.

The ceasefire has been in place since 10 October 2025, following two years of war triggered by the Hamas attack on southern Israel on 7 October 2023. However, the territory continues to experience near-daily deadly incidents.

Multiple locations hit across Gaza

The Gaza Civil Defence, which operates under the Hamas-run administration, said five bodies were transported to hospitals following Israeli strikes across different areas of the enclave.

According to the organisation, three people were killed in a drone strike in Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, one in a strike near Al-Mawasi close to Khan Younis, and another by gunfire in Gaza City.

Local hospitals confirmed receiving the bodies of the deceased.

The Israeli military has not commented on the reported incidents.

Rising death toll since ceasefire

Gaza ceasefire violations have continued to be reported since the truce began, with at least 871 Palestinians killed during this period, according to the Hamas-run Health Ministry, figures that are considered credible by the United Nations.

The Israeli military, meanwhile, reports five soldiers killed in Gaza over the same timeframe.

Challenges in verification

Due to restrictions on media access and conditions on the ground in Gaza, independent verification of casualty figures remains difficult.

News agencies such as AFP note that they are unable to independently confirm the figures provided by either side.
