Father shares video from occupied areas after abducting toddler

Date:

Cyprus authorities are investigating a shocking child abduction case in Limassol after a father allegedly assaulted the child’s mother before taking their 23-month-old child and fleeing to the occupied areas.

According to information obtained by SigmaLive, the suspect is a Turkish national believed to reside in occupied Famagusta. He allegedly entered the government-controlled areas through an illegal route despite reportedly being on an entry ban list.

The man was already wanted under an arrest warrant issued in October in connection with an abuse case. He is also reportedly linked to drug trafficking investigations.

Alleged assault at mother’s home

According to the complaint filed with authorities, the suspect arrived at the mother’s residence in Limassol district in a rental vehicle accompanied by another individual.

The woman alleged that the suspect attacked her and attempted to drown her in the swimming pool at the property before seizing the toddler and fleeing the scene.

Video allegedly sent from occupied areas

The suspect allegedly returned to occupied Famagusta, where he later posted a video featuring the child on social media.

According to reports, he also sent the footage directly to the mother, telling her she could travel to the occupied areas if she wished to retrieve the child.

In the video, the man allegedly says: “My lion, your father would give his life for you, my child. If anyone is brave enough to take you from me, let them come and we will see.”

Authorities continue investigation

Police investigations into the child abduction case remain ongoing, while authorities examine the suspect’s movements and possible offences connected to illegal entry into the Republic-controlled areas.
