Trump says end of Ukraine war is very close

Date:

Optimism over possible agreement

US President Donald Trump has said he believes the end of the war in Ukraine is approaching, suggesting that Moscow and Kyiv may soon reach an agreement to settle the conflict.

Speaking to reporters before departing the White House for a trip to China, Trump said he felt the end of the war was “very close”.

Putin expresses similar view

His comments come shortly after Russian President Vladimir Putin also suggested that the conflict may be nearing its conclusion.

Putin told reporters over the weekend that he believes the war is “coming to an end”, without providing further details on possible negotiations.

War continues amid diplomatic signals

Despite the optimistic statements from both leaders, fighting in Ukraine continues, with no official confirmation of a breakthrough in peace talks.

Diplomatic efforts remain ongoing, with international actors continuing to push for a negotiated settlement.
