Trump slams Iran response
US-Iran tensions escalated after US President Donald Trump described Iran’s latest response as “completely unacceptable” in a post on Truth Social.
“I just read the response from the so-called ‘representatives’ of Iran. I don’t like it — COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE!” he wrote, without providing further details on the content of the Iranian reply.
The comments form part of a wider escalation in US-Iran tensions, with the US President continuing to adopt a hard line against Tehran.
Criticism of past US administrations
Earlier posts on Truth Social also saw Trump accuse Iran of “playing games” with the United States and the world for 47 years.
He launched a direct attack on previous US leadership, particularly former President Barack Obama, claiming his administration was overly accommodating towards Iran.
Trump referenced the 2015 nuclear agreement, negotiated under Obama, which aimed to limit Iran’s nuclear programme. He said the deal gave Iran “a big and very powerful new lease on life” and argued it weakened US alliances, including support for Israel.
He also confirmed during his first term that he would not continue to endorse the agreement.
Escalating rhetoric over Iran
The latest statements further deepen US-Iran tensions, with Trump accusing Iran of deceiving the US for decades.
He claimed Iran had been responsible for attacks against US personnel and suppression of protests, while also making unverified claims regarding casualties during demonstrations in the country.
“Iran has been playing the United States for 47 years,” he said, adding that “they are not going to laugh anymore.”
The renewed exchange highlights continuing diplomatic friction between Washington and Iran.
