Trump: White House attack suspect had “anti-Christian manifesto”

Attempted breach at Correspondents’ Dinner venue

A White House incident occurred after an armed suspect allegedly attempted to enter the ballroom hosting the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, according to comments made by US President Donald Trump during a telephone interview with Fox News.

The suspect was restrained by law enforcement officers before reaching the entrance of the venue, where the event was taking place with the President, First Lady Melania Trump, and senior administration officials in attendance.

Trump describes suspect as “disturbed”

Speaking on the Sunday Briefing programme, Trump said the individual was “clearly very disturbed” and had harboured “a lot of hate for a long time.”

He claimed the suspect had written what he described as a “very anti-Christian manifesto,” adding that the material reflected hostility towards Christians.

According to Trump, the suspect’s family was aware of behavioural issues, and he characterised the individual as “a sick person.”

Security response under scrutiny

Trump said the suspect was stopped by law enforcement officers before managing to get close to the ballroom entrance, preventing any escalation of the situation during the high-profile event.

The incident comes amid heightened attention to White House security protocols, particularly at major public and political gatherings attended by senior US officials.

Authorities have not yet released additional official details regarding the suspect’s identity or possible charges.
