Two-phase agreement under consideration
According to Axios, officials are exploring a two-phase deal. The first phase would involve a 45-day ceasefire, during which negotiations would focus on reaching a final settlement to end the war. The ceasefire period could be extended if deemed necessary to ensure productive talks.
US-Iran tensions continue
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump, in a phone interview with the Wall Street Journal, stated he was extending Tehran’s deadline to Tuesday night to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. He warned that failure to comply could lead to the destruction of key Iranian infrastructure.
The developments highlight ongoing efforts to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East while maintaining pressure on Iran over strategic waterways.
