Price variations across the island
Retail fuel prices in Cyprus vary significantly, according to the Consumer Protection Service. Unleaded 98 shows differences of up to 39.5 cents per litre between stations, diesel up to 18.1 cents, and heating oil up to 25.1 cents, the Price Observatory reports.
Consumer guidance
Konstantinos Karayiorgis said the authority monitors the market daily. He urged consumers to use all available tools to find the cheapest stations, noting that “price differences between stations can reach 20 cents.”
Average prices
- Unleaded 98: €1.643 on average, ranging from €1.454 to €1.849.
- Unleaded 95: €1.587 average, from €1.527 to €1.665.
- Diesel: €1.867 average, from €1.777 to €1.958.
- Heating oil: €1.333 average, from €1.169 to €1.420.
- Kerosene: €1.316 average, from €1.147 to €1.420.
Karayiorgis reassured that no overcharging by companies has been detected and attributed recent price increases to global economic uncertainty, particularly in the energy sector.
Cyprus compared to Europe
He highlighted that fuel companies continuously receive new shipments. Despite higher refinery costs and additional charges (transport, insurance), prices in Cyprus remain relatively stable compared with other European countries. Cyprus ranks among the European nations with lower retail fuel prices.
