Police vehicle stolen from foot-and-mouth disease checkpoint

Early morning van theft attempt

Early Monday morning, an unknown individual attempted to steal a police van in the SOPAZ area of Aradippou. The van was parked as part of measures against foot-and-mouth disease.

Quick police response

While the officer responsible for the vehicle had briefly stepped away, the suspect entered the van, started it, and drove off. The officer immediately pursued the individual in a private vehicle.

Vehicle recovered safely

The chase ended when the suspect was cornered near the McDonald’s on Stratigou Timagia Street. The officer successfully recovered the police van, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
