New case inside infected zone

A new foot and mouth case has been detected at a livestock unit in the Geri area, within the already designated infected zone, according to the Ministry of Agriculture.

The affected unit has a total of 725 animals, authorities confirmed. With this latest incident, the total number of livestock units impacted by the outbreak has risen to 45.

Monitoring and control measures

Officials said the case was identified inside the existing restriction area, where monitoring and control measures are already in place. Veterinary services continue inspections to prevent further spread of the disease among sheep and goats.

Authorities have urged farmers to follow all biosecurity guidelines and report any suspicious symptoms immediately, as efforts continue to contain the outbreak.
