Warning message to Akrotiri residents sent in error

Date:

Residents of Akrotiri received a warning message on Tuesday morning alerting them to a possible attack on the British Bases.

The initial alert urged people to move away from the area due to an alleged threat, causing concern among locals.

Second message clarifies mistake

Shortly afterwards, authorities sent a second warning message to Akrotiri residents’ mobile phones, clarifying that the earlier alert had been issued in error.

The follow-up notification stated clearly that no danger exists and that there is no cause for alarm regarding the British Bases.

Officials have not yet provided further details on how the mistaken warning was triggered.

Alert sparks concern among residents

The brief but alarming notification prompted confusion among residents, particularly given heightened regional tensions in recent days.

Authorities reassured the public that the situation remains calm and urged residents to disregard the earlier warning message.
