Psychological support for farmers hit by foot-and-mouth disease

Psychological support is being provided to farmers affected by the recent outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease, authorities announced on 23 February 2026.

The Mental Health Services Department of OKYPY will offer assistance in collaboration with local Community Councils, aiming to help those in need cope with the impact of the outbreak.

How farmers can access support

Affected farmers seeking psychological assistance can contact the following numbers:

  • 24818706 (07:30 – 15:00)
  • 94069682 (24-hour service)

The initiative seeks to address the emotional and mental strain on livestock owners caused by the ongoing crisis.
