Limassol: 25-year-old injured by accidental gunfire

Police in Limassol are investigating an incident in which a 25-year-old woman was injured by a gunshot at a residential property.

The incident occurred around 6:20 PM yesterday at an auxiliary dwelling where a 26-year-old man and his 25-year-old partner, both foreign nationals, reside.

Accident during firearm maintenance

Preliminary reports indicate that the couple was handling and cleaning the woman’s hunting rifle when, under circumstances still under investigation, it discharged. The 25-year-old was struck in the leg.

She was initially transported by ambulance to a private hospital in Limassol and later transferred to a private hospital in Nicosia, where she remains under medical care.

Arrest and ongoing investigation

The 26-year-old man was arrested under a judicial warrant and is currently in custody.

The Limassol Criminal Investigation Department (TAE) continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
