Police warn against Revolut phone scam

Date:

The Police have renewed their warning to citizens following reports of phone calls in which perpetrators impersonate staff from the online banking service Revolut.

How the scam works

The callers claim that someone is trying to steal money from the victim’s account and ask for access codes under the pretext of protecting the account. If the victim provides this information, the perpetrators can steal available balances from bank accounts.

Safety measures for the public

Authorities urge the public to remain vigilant and follow these precautions:

  • Do not respond to calls or instructions from unknown individuals claiming to represent banks.
  • Never share sensitive information such as passwords, one-time codes, PINs, account details, identity information, or bank card details.
  • Verify the identity of anyone contacting you by using official customer support channels of your bank or financial institution.

Immediate action if data is shared

If any banking information has already been disclosed during such calls, citizens should immediately contact their bank to prevent unauthorised access or withdrawal from their accounts.
