Autopsy confirms cause of death

A Kofinou work accident led to the death of 55-year-old Finis Alexandru on Friday, 30 January. The official autopsy, conducted by forensic pathologist Angeliki Papetta, confirmed that multiple injuries to the body and vital organs sustained in the incident caused his death. Samples were taken for further laboratory examination.

Incident details

The accident occurred on Friday afternoon in a rural area of Kofinou. A 51-year-old worker was unloading cement counterweights weighing 2–3 tonnes each using a crane mounted on a truck. Under circumstances that are still under investigation, the truck tipped to the right.

The 55-year-old, who was on the truck at the time, fell to the ground and was struck by a cement counterweight, resulting in fatal injuries.

Ongoing investigation

Authorities continue to investigate the exact circumstances surrounding the Kofinou work accident to determine how the truck tipped and ensure workplace safety measures are reviewed.
