Sub-zero temperatures in the mountains
Cyprus cold weather remains firmly in place, with a cold air mass continuing to affect the island. Temperatures today are expected to reach around 12°C inland, approximately 14°C along the coasts and close to 0°C in the highest mountain areas, where frost will persist in some locations.
In the evening, temperatures will drop significantly, falling to around 2°C inland, 5°C along the western and northern coasts, and about 7°C in southern and eastern coastal areas. In the highest mountain regions, temperatures are forecast to plunge to as low as -4°C, with widespread frost expected in mountainous, semi-mountainous and inland areas.
Mostly clear skies before midweek cloud cover
Today’s weather will be mainly clear, with northeasterly to southeasterly winds blowing at light to moderate strength, particularly in windward areas. Sea conditions will be slightly rough.
Overnight, skies will remain mostly clear, although periods of increased cloud cover are expected. Winds will continue from the northeast to southeast, remaining light to moderate, while the sea will be slightly rough, becoming rough at times along the eastern coast.
On Wednesday, conditions will turn intermittently mostly cloudy due to mid- and high-level cloud cover.
Rain and storms expected Thursday and Friday
From Thursday into Friday, the weather will remain partly cloudy at times, with thin dust possibly suspended in the atmosphere. From Thursday afternoon onwards, localised rain and isolated thunderstorms are expected. Similar conditions, including isolated showers or storms, are forecast for Friday.
Temperatures will gradually rise through Thursday and stabilise on Friday, remaining close to seasonal averages.
