US military flights to Crete halted after Trump’s Iran remarks

Date:

Significant activity and sudden plan changes marked Wednesday evening around US military flights linked to the Middle East, Iran, and Eastern Mediterranean.

Open flight tracking sources and military observers noted two USAF C-17A Globemaster III transports from Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar received “return to chalks” orders at 20:02 UTC.

Their mission to Chania (LGSA) stood cancelled temporarily, with crews placed on standby for further instructions.

Tankers launch amid speculation

The US military flights reversal followed a mass takeoff of six US Air Force KC-135 Stratotankers from Al Udeid in quick succession.

Analysts and Evergreen Intel account assess these as likely support or evacuation flights, though destinations remain unknown. The final KC-135 departed around 19:27 UTC – 35 minutes before the C-17 suspension order.

Trump remarks time with changes

The operational shift coincided precisely, within minutes, with public statements from President Donald Trump.

He indicated that executions and assassinations inside Iran appear halted, based on sources within the country. This timing raises questions about possible US security reassessments or phase changes.

No official word amid vigilance

The Pentagon and US regional forces issued no official statements explaining the cancellation or flights’ exact roles.

Combined transport and tanker movements, alongside Iran developments, reinforce estimates of heightened US vigilance and rapid planning adaptations across the Middle East and Eastern Mediterranean.
