GESY faces software glitches, problems emerge after five years

Date:

Dr Mary Avramidou, President of the Cyprus Personal Doctors Association, highlighted serious GESY software glitches on SIGMA’s “Protoselido.” The system ran smoothly for the first five years with only rare problems. However, frequent disruptions began in October 2024, causing significant inconvenience for both doctors and patients.

Patient safety primary concern

Dr Avramidou stressed that patient safety must remain paramount amid these GESY software glitches. She noted the paradox that the system performs flawlessly after hours. “The software runs at high speeds at night when we’re sitting idle,” she remarked.

New management suspected culprit

Rumours circulate that a new company took over system management from October 2024, coinciding with the onset of problems.

Meetings have occurred at the Health Ministry to address the matter. Dr Avramidou praised the original software as pioneering across Europe, functioning impeccably for five years and earning great pride.
