Danish home furnishings retailer JYSK is entering the Cyprus market, with its first stores expected to open in April 2027.
The company plans to initially operate two to four stores on the island, with a long-term target of eight to 10 locations. The operation will form part of JYSK Greece and will be overseen by Greece and Cyprus Country Director Giorgos Tsironis.
JYSK expects the expansion to create around 80 new jobs in Cyprus. Recruitment for the first District Manager is already underway, with more than 100 candidates having expressed interest.
The company is currently seeking retail premises of 1,300–1,600 square metres, including around 1,000 square metres of sales space, ideally with parking and truck access, across Cyprus.
Since opening its first store in Denmark in 1979, JYSK has grown into one of Europe’s largest home furnishings retailers. The company currently operates more than 70 stores in Greece and has been present in the Greek market for more than a decade.
JYSK President and CEO Rami Jensen said the company’s expansion strategy involves continuously seeking new growth opportunities and expressed confidence that its Scandinavian products would appeal to Cypriot consumers.
Tsironis described the expansion into Cyprus as a natural next step, noting the close links between Greece and Cyprus and saying many Cypriots are already familiar with JYSK through travel and shopping abroad.
