Police are investigating a case of attempted murder in Larnaca, following a violent incident involving a 35-year-old man on Sunday evening.

According to authorities, officers were dispatched at around 8pm to an area in the village of Kiti, in the Larnaca district, after reports of bloodstains found on a pavement in a parking area.

Victim treated at General Hospital

Shortly afterwards, information was received from the Larnaca General Hospital that a 35-year-old man had been admitted for treatment with injuries caused by a sharp object.

The victim sustained a wound to his left shin, a deep injury to the right shoulder blade, and additional injuries to his right hand. He was admitted to the hospital’s surgical ward, with his condition described as serious but not life-threatening.

While investigations at the scene were ongoing, police stopped a suspicious vehicle believed to have transported the injured man to hospital. The car was driven by a 38-year-old man, with a 41-year-old woman as a passenger.

During questioning, the 38-year-old allegedly admitted to stabbing the victim with a knife.

Further checks revealed that the suspect was residing illegally in the Republic of Cyprus, leading to his arrest for the flagrant offence of unlawful stay.
