Cyprus police operations lead to three arrests overnight

Targeted police presence across urban areas

Cyprus police operations continued throughout the night as part of targeted preventive measures, with an increased police presence in key urban locations. The aim of the operations was to prevent serious criminal activity, protect the public and maintain public order.

Three arrests in Paphos, Limassol and Nicosia

During the overnight operations, the Cyprus Police arrested three individuals for various offences. One person was arrested in Paphos under a court warrant in connection with a domestic violence investigation. A second individual was arrested in Limassol for failure to appear before a court.

A third arrest was made in Nicosia for a flagrant offence involving excessive speeding.

Traffic checks and violations

Over the course of the night, police stopped 278 vehicles for inspection and checked 346 occupants. In parallel, 21 inspections of premises were carried out to deter and suppress unlawful behaviour.

Traffic checks resulted in 113 reports for various traffic violations, while four additional traffic-related cases are under investigation.

Ongoing preventive policing plan

According to police, these operations form part of a broad, continuous and reinforced preventive policing plan. The strategy includes increased police visibility, targeted checks and immediate operational response across all districts, with the objective of preventing crime and strengthening the public’s sense of safety.
